Mind Bending
The indie section of the Wii U's eShop has been one of the hottest places on the digital store this year and the releases show no sign of slowing down. The latest title to blast its way into the fall lineup is Psyscrolr by Actos Games. This psychic powered platformer offers up gameplay that combines the GamePad's traditional inputs and the touch screen for a unique blend of action and puzzle platforming.
The story of Psyscrolr revolves around The Scroler, who is thrown out of his village after being visited by a being with psychic powers. He is now being hunted by the Magi, who believe his new found psychic powers will lead to their extinction.
One of the things that really stands out about Psyscrolr is the use of voice over in the game. While it uses a retro inspired graphical design, the sound design and use of voice acting sets it apart from other offerings in the eShop. Actos Games currently has Psyscrolr slated for a Fall 2014 release. The developer recently released a trailer for the upcoming title and has been preparing series of tutorial videos explaining the game and its mechanics.
You can see Psyscrolr's first gameplay trailer above. The tutorial videos are available on Actos Games' YouTube channel or on their dev blog. What do you think of this latest indie platformer? Do you plan on getting this title after its release or will you be passing on it for something else? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
